In a recent research on the future of employment, the World Economic Forum (WEF) found that generative AI has the potential to significantly alter society by fostering innovation and automating repetitive tasks. According to the white paper, large language models (LLMs) have the potential to be extremely helpful in fields like engineering, mathematics, and scientific analysis that call for critical thinking, sophisticated problem-solving, and creativity.
Credit authorizers, checkers, and clerks are among the occupations most at danger from automation since they do repetitive, basic linguistic activities. They might have up to 45% of their duties automated. However, as 84 percent of their duties have limited exposure to change, employment in education, guiding, career counselling, and advising are expected to remain largely untouched. The study concluded that financial and capital markets, along with insurance and pension management, are the industries most sensitive to automation and augmentation after looking at 19,000 different jobs across 867 different vocations most likely to be impacted by LLMs.
Why is it important?
The study’s conclusions have significant ramifications for organizations and governments, particularly in terms of establishing a flexible workforce and putting in place measures to ease job transitions.
